Why I Chose Forest Guard Job in Himachal?

I live in a small village Himachal Pradesh, my childhood I have loved nature trees and animals. I always wanted to do something for the environment. And when I came to know about Himachal Pradesh forest Guard recruitment I got excited. This job is not only give you and government benefits but also like you work in forest of Himachal with most peaceful and beautiful place.

Eligibility and my background

Before I applied I checked all the Eligibility requirements.

I had passed my 12th class.
I was 22 years old.
I am Himachal Pradesh resident so eligibility is not a big issue if your age is under maxium criteria.

Physical test and my daily routine

The first stock for a selection was physical Efficiency Test (PET), so I have to start my preparations accordingly.

For male candidates:

You have to run 1.5 km in 6 minutes.
The height of the candidate minimum 165 cm
Chest 79 CM Normal and 84 CM expanded.

This apart is not a easy task but I had never time the my running before that so I started morning practice everyday. I used to wake up 5:30 am and do some touching and run 2 km Daily. Within 3 weeks I was able to run someone 5 km in 6 minutes.

Important tips: Start early do not wait for admit card physical test is qualifying but very important.

Written examination my study strategy

After I clear physical test I got an admit card for written examination the paper had 85 marks and included:

Subjects	Marks
General knowledge	25 marks
Reasoning	25 marks
Arithmetic	25 Marks
English and Hindi	10 marks

General Knowledge:

I read Himachal GK books and daily newspapers.
I focused on HP Wildlife Sanctuaries, National Parks, and recent government schemes.
I also followed YouTube channels that give Himachal current affairs.

Reasoning:

I solved puzzles, series, and coding questions from basic reasoning books.
Practiced 20 questions daily.

Arithmetic:

Focused on percentages, averages, profit and loss, time and distance.
Used Class 10-level RS Aggarwal book – simple and enough.

English/Hindi:

Simple grammar rules, synonyms, antonyms, and comprehension.
I made a small study timetable and followed it daily for 3-4 hours.

My Document Checklist

During my document verification I carried the documents:

10th/12th mark sheet
Domicile certificate
Caste certificate (if applicable)
Aadhar card
Passport size photograph
Physical test qualify certificate

Always keep for the copies of each document.

My Salary After Selection

Once I got selected I joined the forest department and my salary is:

Basic Pay – 21,400
Total in Hand salary – 25,000 to 30,000

My Experience in the Exam Hall

The exam centre is around 40 km away from my home, I reached early. The paper was here and most questions are from in the syllabus I had study. I attempted the question of 85 confidently but the moment I saw my name in the final list I was so happy.
